Seven Lions to watch in their second preseason game vs. Steelers
.........
If Jared Goff is kept out of this game, I think he needs pre-season action against Indianapolis next Friday Night. That much more with the Lions not having any joint practices this summer.
Because of all the missed practice time on the field, Derrick Barnes was a pleasant surprise on this end against the Bills. He's definitely a player well worth looking at closely tomorrow night .
Levi Onwuzurike got the attention of media members this week in a positive way. Hopefully, he can build on the impact he had in practice.
Craig Reynolds won't catch anyone on the Steelers Defense by surprise tomorrow night. Great opportunity for him!
Julian Okwara should continue to get plenty of snaps, providing he remains relatively healthy. Very encouraging performance by # 99 vs. the Bills.
Javon McKinley helped his cause vs. the Bills. But as an UDFRA who might not have significant upside on Special Teams, McKinley doesn't have much margin of error before the cutdown to 53.
At the very least, Bruce Hector will very likely get another opportunity on an NFL 53 man roster if he continues to practice and play even close to his current level.

Detroit Lions' Jared Goff, D'Andre Swift among starters likely to sit vs. Steelers
........
If the decision is made to keep some relatively healthy starters out of the remainder of the pre-season, it's opening the door for a slow start to the season. Especially, in the opening game vs. the 49ers. Even beyond wins and losses. From a risk vs. reward standpoint, the Lions don't seem far enough along the contention path to sit out players in the pre-season that are relatively healthy.
My plan is to provide my thoughts about the game early Sunday. I will start a game thread in case anyone else would like to offer thoughts about the game before then. .
