Detroit Lions cut longtime safety Glover Quin

The Lions releasing Glover Quin was highly likely if he didn't announce his retirement from the NFL. Yet, it's still sad to see one of the Lions best contributors in the early part of the 21st Century being let go. It was a necessary decision. But it doesn't make the outcome pleasant or anything remotely close.

Glover Quin's intangible value is off the charts. He will be very difficult to replace in a multitude of different ways from an intangible standpoint. .

I totally understand the perspective of both the Lions and Glover Quin. To Quin's credit, he remained a professional through his entire time with the Lions and still is a professional in the present.
