Detroit Lions hit rock bottom in latest power rankings
........
I'm not surprised the Lions are as low as # 30 in this Pre-Training Camp Power Rankings. Many are going to have to Lions even lower..
Jacksonville is coming off a 15 game losing streak to close out the 2020 season. I do believe they will win several more games this coming season, if their injury situation is not amongst the worst in the NFL. If the Texans are as bad as practically everyone is projecting, the Jaguars have a great opportunity for 2 wins vs. the Texans. Jaguars Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence is the consensus highest rated QB to come to the NFL since Andrew Luck was drafted by the Colts in 2012.

Lions open near the bottom of the USA TODAY NFL power poll
.......
The Lions have a very difficult schedule to begin the first 3 weeks of the regular season ( vs. SF, at GB, vs. Baltimore ). Road games at Chicago and Minnesota follow, in which the Lions will likely be more than 3 point underdogs. Hence, it wouldn't be surprising if the Lions are at the very bottom of the vast majority of NFL Power Rankings soon.
From my point of view, this Lions season is much more about growth and setting the foundation for the future than it's about realistically contending for even a 7th Seed playoff spot.

Lions keep creeping up in NFL power polls
………….
At this time. the lowest I believe the Lions should be ranked is # 29. The Jets, Giants, and Jaguars ( excluding Jamal Agnew ) belong at the bottom, in close to a 3 way tie for that dubious honor.

Lions stay out of the cellar in Week 6 NFL power polls
…..
The Lions have been more consistently competitive than a number of teams with one win. Ultimately though, until / unless the Lions win a game, I think teams that have at least one win should be ranked ahead of the Lions.

PFT’s Week Seven 2021 power rankings ………...…….
It's very likely that at least some with the 2008 Lions are hoping the 2021 Lions go 0-17 or at least lose 16 games.
Matthew Wright rebounded from a bad performance vs. the Titans with a Game Winning 53 yd FG ( vs. the Dolphins ). It was a longer FG than any he even made in College with Auburn. It's fitting of this season that the same Matthew Wright, who didn't even last in Lions Training Camp beyond the team's intrasquad Scrimmage (6 days before the Lions pre-season opener) , made the game winning FG for the only other team that didn't have a win this season.
Congrats to Matthew Wright and the Jaguars on their win over the Dolphins in London. It was good to see Marvin Jones make the type of TD catch late in the 1st half that he often made with the Lions.
Even though the Lions -LA Rams game won't have remotely close to the interest of the Bucs-LA Rams game from week # 3, I'm confident Sean McVay views the Lions game as big as any his team has the entire 2021 season regular season.

PFT’s Week Eight 2021 power rankings ………
Dan Campbell has a 6 year contract. With the massive rebuilding the Lions are doing, the very long contract was a necessary decision by Lions ownership.

PFT’s Week 11 2021 power rankings
...........
Regarding my comment from 15 days ago, I didn't envision the Lions ending in a tie game when expressing my thoughts.
With the Jets having wins over the Titans ( in OT ) and Bengals, I think they should be ranked ahead of the 0-8-1 Lions.

PFT’s Week 13 2021 power rankings
........
Dan Campbell has a 6 year contract. In Lions season that was expected to be the beginning of a rebuilding plan, it's highly likely that Campbell will be back for at least the 2022 season. Even with some of the concerns discussed in other threads, there are major positives with Campbell as Lions HC.

PFT’s Week 15 2021 power rankings
................
The Texans and Jaguars face each other in Jacksonville this coming Sunday. With the Lions hosting a Cardinals team coming off a loss to the LA Rams last night and has been dominate on the road this season, the Lions will likely be a consensus # 31 in next week's Power Rankings.
