Ironically, the hamstring injury to Desmond Trufant in the Bears comeback win in Detroit in the 2020 season opener contributed greatly to the Bears and Trufant coming to a contract agreement in March, 2021. If Trufant remained relatively healthy in the 2020 season, one way or another, it's unlikely he would with the Bears in 2021.
Desmond Trufant's hamstring injury against the Bears helped open the door for Kyle Fuller's interception that set up the eventual game winning TD for the Bears.
With all due respect to Desmond Trufant, very few NFL CBs can effectively replace Fuller in the 2021 season. Fuller has been a difference maker against the Lions in multiple games. Even if Trufant ends up being a bargain for the Bears, they are losing a Pro Bowl caliber player at a position that is difficult to find solutions.
