Because of the Veteran Salary Benefit Expansion, which I wasn't familiar with until seeing the information regarding Jalen Reeves-Maybin's one year contract, the contract is a good decision by the Lions. The reward is now greater than the risk.
I'm anticipating Jalen Reeves-Maybin getting more snaps on Defense under the Lions new coaching staff than under Matt Patricia and co.
The Lions have much more work to do to build the LB corp. But at least JRM provides the Lions with another off the ball option, who could potentially see entry of time in Nickel Packages. Not to mention rhe plus Special Teams Skills JRM brings to the table.
