Snap counts: Lions try a little bit of everything with defensive line, linebackers to no avail
..........
Like I mentioned previously, I hope Da'Shawn Hand gets noticeably more snaps per game moving forward.
In addition to the Lions missing Kenny Golladay's receiving skills, his blocking contribution is missed ( at least by me ). One reason why I don't think Marvin Jones will be re-signed by the Lions is he doesn't provide enough as a blocker
Jesse James has noticeably improved this season, compares to 2019. The play Dave Birkett mentioned that James took out two Vikings defenders with his blocking was one of the highlight plays of the first half of the season for the Lions.

...........
Though Desmond Trufant's PFF grade for the game is pretty good, not great, his play at Minnesota reinforces my opinion that the Lions would have won at least one of the 3 games the team lost prior to the bye if Trufant was relatively healthy back then.

QB - The first interception was plainly horrible but I can understand the second one, unfortunately the window / timing is very tight and #54 Kendricks demonstrated a great instincts.
WR/TE - Jesse James blocked well on this bubble screen but he is sometimes inconsistent when blocking on the line and he is a second-rate target despite his size, I don't really know what to think about his overall season ?
LB - As you said, a DB should have been covering Cook during the 2-minute. Collins was not late identifying the screen but was promptly blocked / screened by Garrett Bradbury and again, the man-coverage allowed Abdullah a big gain / TD ! Again, Jahlani Tavai had no impact whatsoever
DB - Truffant had a nice sack and he was probably en route for a second cornerback blitz when Dalvin Cook put a "whooops" move on him in the 4th quarter. Okudah's missed tackle was due to his mettle (Collins coming back from behind , made the tackle and avoided an immediate TD) Except this TD, Jayron Kearse held his position well imho. Yes Okudah is late to cover Irv Smith, but Smith already had a comfortable inside leverage positionwise.image hosting

David, the sack allowed by Hala Vaitai is the picture I have posted here above when Stafford, for some reasons, ran into the DL. So in a sense, you're right, Vaitai was bull-rushed and beaten by #93 Shamar Stephen, but on the other hand, Stafford kept the ball for more than 3 seconds and chose not to throw, so Vaitai has some mitigating circumstances I agree with you concerning Jamie Collins, he is a senior player, he should have called a time-out. That said, the Vikings promptly snapped the ball.
I looked at the play a few more times. The mistake I believe Matthew Stafford made was waiting too long for a receiver to his left to get open. The best chance to get a favorable result was Stafford looking to Kerryon Johnson underneath more quickly. I don't think that Stafford would have got a 1st Down if he took off. This is based on the defender covering Danny Amendola around the 17 yard line still being too close to Stafford when the QB had a clear path to get by the pass rushers close to the Line of Scrimmage.
By the time Stafford tried to escape to the right, it seemed difficult for him to get rid of the ball without the risk of a result even worse than a sack. Especially also factoring in a 46 yard FG in a dome stadium is a kick that Matt Prater is expected to make.
IMHO, Stafford, Big V, and Marvin Jones all contributed to the sack. Tyrell Crosby and Danny Amendola to a lesser extent.

Frenchy, regarding Jesse James, there's no question that his contributions don't reflect his contract. Once the Lions drafted T.J. Hockenson, the chances of James providing value even close to the numbers on his contract were low.
Having said all of that, I do believe that James has played much better through the midpoint of the 2020 season than he did in his first season with the Lions. IMHO, more consistency as a blocker and a receiver.

On Stafford's sack, you nailed it David, the slightest hesitation in the RZ is fatal, acute observations.
