NFL free agency: All eyes on Patriots' Tom Brady, but QB market might be best ever
………………..
The Lions definitely need to make the # 2 QB position on the team a higher priority than has been the case in many years. Even in the few years before Bob Quinn became the Lions GM in 2016. The question becomes what is the best way to upgrade the # 2 QB position? There are pros and cons going the veteran route and the same regarding selecting a QB in the mid rounds of the draft.

One year, $25 million for Philip Rivers in Indy
………………...……….
The Colts are banking on Philip Rivers having a bounce back season, even though he turns 39 this coming December. With the expectations that Rivers will perform much better because of much better pass protection than he received with the LA Chargers in the 2020 season. This seems like a risky decision that could easily backfire on the Colts because of the age and wear/ tear factors.

Report: Tom Brady to join Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 years in New England
……………….
The good news from a Lions fan perspective, at least for me, is that Jason Hanson remains the only player to ever play for the same team for 21 seasons in the NFL. This includes the AFL as well.
It's hard to predict what will transpire with Tom Brady with the Bucs. He's going to be playing for Bruce Arians, one of the best HCs in the NFL and one of the best with working with Offenses and QBs. The Bucs are a highly talented team on Offense. Most of their remaining questions are on Defense.
The # 1 question that comes to mind is will age finally catch up to Tom Brady in the 2020 season? Injuries are starting to take their toll on Brady. This could easily be an even greater factor as Brady turns 43 later this season. The Bucs have taken a high reward/ high risk path with Brady.

Colts cut Brian Hoyer
…………..
At this stage of the career of Brian Hoyer, he probably offers more as an extension of the coaching staff with the team he's with than in game action as a QB.
