Detroit Lions sign LB Christian Jones to 2-year extension
...……………..
I'm surprised by this decision. Christian Jones has versatility, which the Lions brass values greatly. He also has good intangibles. However, Jones has struggled in pass coverage and has limited upside potential at this stage of his NFL playing career.

Detroit Lions sign Christian Jones to two-year contract extension
…………….
Barring a major injury leading up to the day the Lions have to decide next Spring whether to pick up Jarrad Davis' 5th Year option, I expect the Lions to pick up his option.
Christian Jones doesn't have Jarrad Davis' playmaking ability. Jones is better suited as a role player, with his run Defense his strength compared to other facets of LB play.

Why the Lions gave a 2-year extension to linebacker Christian Jones
…………………
This thread relates to the following thread:
Raiders 31 Lions 24: Game # 8 ( 2019 )

Christian Jones seems better suited as a role player than someone who plays as much as he does. The limitations Jones has in man to man coverage and him being an ordinary blitzer / edge rusher leads me to believe the Lions need an upgrade.
After seeing Jarrad Davis commit a Pass Interference Penalty on a 3rd and Long play in which letting the receiver catch the ball and then making the tackle would have been the sound decision makes me question my own comment about the Lions picking up Davis' 5th year option next Spring. The remaining 8 games in tbe regular season are critical in terms of his future with the Lions.
