Detroit Lions sit as 7-point favorites for Week 8 matchup with New York Giants
………………….
This has the feel of a game in which the Lions should be no more than 4 1/2 point favorites. It wouldn't surprise me if the Giants win tbe game outright.
With Saquon Barkley a week further away from the high ankle sprain he suffered in Tampa back on Sept. 22, he could have a huge day if the Lions don't correct the mistakes made in defending the run that were on display the last couple of games. Tbe Giants are also much healthier at other skill positions than when they played in New England 13 days ago.

PFT’s Week Eight picks
Giants at Lions
MDS’s take: The Lions are slipping after a strong start, but the Giants coming to town should make things easier. MDS’s pick: Lions 28, Giants 14.
Florio’s take: The Lions could have won each of their last three games. They should beat the Giants, and it could get ugly. Florio’s pick: Lions 28, Giants 17.
…………
I'm not as optimistic about the Lions going into this game as these two commentators.

Detroit News predictions: Giants at Lions
…………..
If the Lions even have the better roster, in terms of which players will be healthy enough to play in this game, it probably is closer talent wise than most believe is the case. The Giants have plenty of youth on both sides of the ball, with plenty of upside potential.

View from the other side: Giants at Lions
………………
I think the Lions should put Justin Coleman on Golden Tate and hope that Rashaan Melvin can handle rookie speedster WR Darius Slayton. Coleman is better suited to matchup with Tate in the slot than most CBs.

Lions’ struggling defensive line gets boost with return of Da’Shawn Hand
…………….
Nothing jumps out in terms of anything unexpected with the Lions Inactives.
For the Giants, with Tae Davis Inactive, they very likely are expecting a contribution at LB ( especially in Nickel and Dime situations ) from newly signed LB / Hybrid Deone Bucannon. He is a major x-factor because of his history of playmaking in a relatively similar system.
