I'm not convinced that Logan Thomas' days with the Lions are over. As a vested veteran, Thomas isn't subject to the waiver claim process since his release occurred before the NFL Trade Deadline.
Four possibilities come to mind. With # 3 or # 4, # 2 is also a possibility.
1. Logan Thomas is re-signed by Wednesday's practice. With Austin Bryant, Da'Shawn Hand, or Amani Oruwariye going on Short Term IR.
2. Thomas is re-signed after Week 1, hence his entire 2019 base salary isn't guaranteed.
3. Both TE Isaac Nauta and TE Austin Traylor have been signed to the Lions Practice Squad. One of them could get signed to the Lions 53 man roster before Saturday Afternoon's deadline that would make the player eligible to play in Arizona next Sunday.
4 The Lions go with only 2 TEs in Arizona, with one or more Offensive Lineman used as extra blockers on some plays.
