Josh Johnson is the QB version of MLB Pitcher Edwin Jackson from the standpoint of being with a plethora of teams.

Josh Johnson is probably an upgrade over David Fales and he might even be over Tom Savage. Having said that, I'm not sold on him being a viable option as a # 2 QB.

Because Johnson has been in numerous NFL systems, the adjustment period for him with the Lions should be less than it would be for most QBs. How much Johnson will be able to do in practice this coming week is a question that jumps out?

Josh Johnson appears to be legit competition for the Lions # 2 QB job. The longer Tom Savage is out, the greater the opportunity for Johnson.

I think the improved play by Josh Johnson compared to the pre-season game at Houston and Johnson's NFL experience/ exposure makes him the favorite to be the Lions # 2 QB leading into the pre-season finale at Cleveland. If Tom Savage is able to play in that game, that could change the Lions QB landscape.
