Other than avoiding significant injuries, the most important component of OTAs is learning. Both in terms of helping learning new systems when applicable and for rookies in their adjustments to the NFL.

Briefly
Defensive end Trey Flowers, cornerback Justin Coleman, wide receivers Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay, fullback Nick Bawden and defensive lineman Austin Bryant were among the players who worked with the Lions' rehab group at practice Wednesday. Flowers, who underwent offseason shoulder surgery, and Coleman were the Lions' top two free-agent additions of the spring. ... Running back Zach Zenner was not at Wednesday's voluntary workout.

Because Austin Bryant is a rookie, him being sidelined is more of a setback than the other players mentioned.

Receiver Tommylee Lewis was also absent Thursday, while a slew of players were suited up but doing very little other than working on the side with a trainer. That includes defensive end Trey Flowers, receiver Marvin Jones, receiver Kenny Golladay, cornerback Justin Coleman, defensive lineman Austin Bryant, tight end Isaac Nauta, fullback Nick Bawden, linebacker Steve Longa and safety David Jones.

It remains to be seen if one or more of these players will begin training camp on the PUP List or the Non Football Injury list?

Observations: Lions RB Kerryon Johnson can catch, too

Logan Thomas likely will be on the Lions opening day 53 man roster. Considering Isaac Nauta has missed some practice time because of injury this spring ( hence it's harder for the coaches to gauge him , I doubt the Lions would have moved on from Michael Roberts if Logan Thomas wasn't performing/ progressing well.
