Lions sign former Michigan State QB Connor Cook to back up Matthew Stafford The odds are against Connor Cook even being a reliable or better # 2 NFL QB. Yet, in terms of physical ability, Cook has more upside than Jake Rudock and many, many other QBs that are in the NFL.
Regarding Rudock, his days with the Lions are likely over. It probably would make sense for Rudock to try to get his NFL playing career back on track with another team. I wish him well.

Bob Quinn: Detroit Lions eyed QB Connor Cook all season………………….. It's not surprising Jake Rudock declined an offer to sign a Futures Contract with the Lions, after the Lions didn't promote Rudock to the 53 man roster during the entire 2018 season.
Though Connor Cook has an uphill battle to be the Lions # 2 QB in 2019, at least he has plenty of physical upside potential.

Maybe Jake Rudock can sign with the New England Patriots; where he can learn from another 6th round pick from Michigan has had some success.

Good suggestion, Joe.
The Patriots definitely need to get a long term starting option into their organization. But they also can use a long term low cost potential # 2 QB option.
