Detroit Lions’ latest pre-draft visit is big Kentucky CB Lonnie Johnson

NFL Draft Preview: Defensive Backs ( 2019 )
Lonnie Johnson is a work in progress. This isn't surprising being that he's a former Junior College player who only became a starter with Kentucky during the last several games of his Junior season.
There's plenty of inconsistency in Johnson's game, including regarding ball skills, run support, tackling, with his jam in press man to man coverage, and giving up too much cushion in off coverage.
On the plus side, Lonnie Johnson has plenty of upside potential and he has a history of blocking kicks.
Most likely, Lonnie Johnson will be taken in Round 2 or 3, with Round 2 more likely than not.
For the Lions, I think pick #43 in Round 2 is too early to take Johnson when factoring in other realistic options with that draft resource. Though Johnson probably won't last to pick # 88 in Round 3, that's a spot where the Lions would get good value if he lasts and is taken by the team at # 88. Trading down to the latter part of Round 2 and ending up with Johnson would seem like at least a solid option.
