Kevin O'Connell not committing to starting quarterback vs. Lions
........
Nick Mullens probably gives the Vikings their best chance to win in Detroit in the regular season finale because of his willingness to throw to Justin Jefferson, even on some plays when he's double covered. While Mullens is prone to turnovers with his aggressive play, he produces points for the Vikings.

Here's how the Vikings can still make the playoffs
.........
One thing that is now certain is that even if the Vikings make the playoffs, which is highly unlikely, the Lions 1st Round opponent won't be the Vikings. If the Lions lose to the Vikings, the Lions would be the # 3 seed in the NFC Playoffs regardless what transpires with the Cowboys and Eagles. The Vikings can't go higher than the # 7 seed.
The Lions 1st Round Playoff Opponent would either be the LA Rams or the Packers, if the Lions are the # 3 Seed.
If the Lions are the # 2 Seed, which isn't likely, the Lions 1st Round Opponent would be the LA Rams, Packers, or Saints.

PFT’s Week 18 2023 NFL picks, Florio vs. Simms
Vikings at Lions (-3.5)
An injury or two could make the Lions regret not calling off the dogs for Week 18.
Florio: Lions, 27-20.
Simms: Lions, 28-24.
..............
The Lions under Dan Campbell aren't about calling off the dogs. This Lions would lose the edge it has gained by calling off the dogs.

Vikings vs. Lions: Week 18 preview and predictions
........
Even with WRs Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison relatively healthy, the Vikings have an uphill battle to match the Lions Offense in this game. As long as Jared Goff and the Lions overall protect the ball and the Lions don't give up one or more big plays on Special Teams, I'm optimistic the Lions are going to win this game.

Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings: Dave Birkett's scouting report, prediction
.......
I have doubts that the Vikings will remain patient with their running game, if they fall behind by double digits and are struggling to run the ball.
One Vikings player not mentioned in the article is worth keeping an eye on (Jersey # 11) in this game: CB NaJee Thompson. While Thompson probably won't see action at CB in the game, he's a differential player on Special Teams Coverage. He's a 2023 UDRFA from Georgia Southern. Great find by the Vikings.
