Detroit Lions host Iowa TE Noah Fant, a first-round prospect, on pre-draft visit….

NFL Draft Preview:Tight Ends ( 2019 )
I expect Noah Fant to be drafted in the 1st Round at some point after pick # 8.
Though Fant was better than most TEs as a blocker in college, the key question for me is what is his upside as a blocker? How much bigger can Fant get before he loses a significant amount of speed and quickness?
Even if the Lions trade down in Round 1, I have at least some doubts that Fant offers enough long term value as a blocker to satisfy the Lions brass in Round 1. In what shapes up as a good TE Draft, I continue to hope the Lions don't address the position until at least Round 2.

………………..
The overall TE Draft isn't looking as good as I previously thought. I would be very surprised though if the Lions draft Noah Fant with pick # 8. His college teammate T.J. Hockenson seems like a much greater possibility in that spot for the Lions because he's a more complete TE.
