Updates: Injury status of Tyron, Hankins and Gilmore

Johnathan Hankins provides the Cowboys with much needed bulk strength in the interior of their Defensive Line. The loss of Hankins would be a substantial loss for the Cowboys, as the Lions best chance to win this game is to establish and maintain the running game in order to slow down the Cowboys pass rush. The Cowboys easily have a top 5 NFL Pass Rush and arguably have the best pass rush in the NFL.

Tyron Smith’s improving status a good sign for Cowboys and Terence Steele

In 2013, the 3rd season for Tyron Smith with the Cowboys/ NFL, HE committed a critical holding penalty on a running play in Detroit late in the 4th QTR that opened the door for the Lions to complete an improbable comeback win (31-30) over the Cowboys. Matthew Stafford was sensational on the Lions Game winning drive (following the successful PAT). That was Smith's only holding penalty that season. Tyron Smith has been amongst the best LTs in the NFL when relatively healthy for a decade. I think Smith has a realistic chance at eventually getting into the Pro Football HOF. The Cowboys chances in the playoffs depend greatly on the health of Tyron Smith.
