Old friend alert: Former Lions on the Los Angeles Chargers
.........
Nick Williams is the former Lions player now with the LA Chargers who impressed me with his play against the Bears and Jets, in the Chargers last two games. Williams is a backup interior rotation player for the Chargers, benefitting from the attention that edge players Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack get. Williams helped the Chargers both vs. the run and as a pass rusher in the last two Chargers games, both one sided Chargers wins. Williams was amongst my favorite Lions players, both for his efforts with the Lions and as a leader in society.

One of Lions' weaknesses Chargers can expose in Week 10
........
Red Zone play on both sides of the ball shapes up as a key component to this game. With the LA Chargers having a strong pass rush, this isn't a team the Lions can afford to be in catchup mode against in the 2nd half.

Who are the experts taking in Chargers vs. Lions?
............
The LA Chargers can use this for motivation purposes.
To me, this game has the feel of a toss-up, with the LA Chargers having a slight edge.
Having said this, I'll probably predict the Lions to win the game, in part because the Lions will be the more rested team. This is even factoring in the Lions traveling 3 time zones for the game. Another factor is the Chargers history (which used to also be the Lions history) of turning victory into defeat. Coaching decisions have heavily contributed to this. The Chargers winning two games in a row by wide margins is an indicator of their talent and potential. Yet, when it looked like the Chargers have turned the corner in many previous situations similar to the current one, they fail to sustain their success.

Will the Chargers-Lions matchup be on in your area?
...........
CBS considers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo as its # 1 NFL announcing team. Normally, the game they televise is reaches the largest audience of the CBS NFL games on Sundays. In looking at the map, my guess is the Green Bay-Pittsburgh game will be televised to a larger audience than the Detroit-LA Chargers game.
Ian Eagle and Charles Davis (my favorite NFL announcing team) are the TV announcers for the Packers-Steelers game. They are considered by CBS as their # 2 NFL announcing team. The last time they announced a Lions game was the Lions 20-17 road comeback win at the Jets last December.

5 keys to a Chargers win over the Lions
..........
The Lions would benefit greatly if Jameson Williams is on the receiving end of a long vertical pass early in the game. Softening up the LA Chargers Defense would go a long way to the Lions winning this game.
The return of David Montgomery should improve the Lions efficiency / effectiveness in the Red Zone. This is even factoring in that the Chargers are strong against the run. The return of Frank Ragnow and Jonah Jackson should also help the Lions in the Red Zone.
Austin Ekeler is a dangerous rusher and receiver, regardless of his stats since coming back from an ankle injury that he suffered in the Dolphins 36-34 opening day win in Sofi Stadium. The Lions have to keep Ekeler contained. If he gets on track, the Lions are in serious trouble in terms of the chances of winning this game.

Detroit Lions vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Dave Birkett's scouting report, prediction
..........
The Lions need to stay committed to the running game, in order to match up well enough against Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
Their likely will be times in this game in which it makes sense for the Lions to provide chip blocking help for Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell. Sometimes even on the same play.
Being that Keenan Allen frequently is used as a Slot Receiver, Brian Branch will very likely be matched up against Allen at times. This would be a huge test for Branch but I think he's up to the task.
Eric Kendricks has a history of impact games against the Lions, while with the Vikings. Though Kendricks probably isn't quite on the high Pro Bowl caliber level that he was for many seasons, he's still more than capable of being a positive difference maker for the LA Chargers vs. the run, in pass coverage, and on blitzes/dogs.

Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Chargers: 3 burning questions ahead of Week 10 game
.....
Justin Herbert has a strong arm, who is capable of making the vast majority of throws any QB who has played in the NFL was able to make. Having said that, this season, Herbert hasn't been as accurate on deeper throws than was the case prior to this season. Hopefully, that will continue today. The Lions Defense needs to do its part for that to continue.

Chargers' causes for concern vs. Lions
..........
IMHO, the Lions Offensive Line vs. the Chargers Defensive Line-Edge players is more likely than not the unit matchup in this game that will decide the outcome more than anything else.
