The Lions brass probably concluded that another Safety for Practice this week and for the pre-season game at Carolina on Friday Night was needed.
Scott Nelson becomes a Practice Squad candidate for the Lions early in the season.
Unless Mohamed Ibrahim suffered an injury that's expected to keep him sidelined for a few months, an injury settlement is likely. My guess is Ibrahim will get another opportunity with the Lions either later this season on the Practice Squad or in the upcoming off-season.
