This is very unfortunate news, regarding Frank Ragnow and the Lions.

While Ragnow likely will be able to get through most or practically all of the 2023 season, barring a different injury, Ragnow's NFL career could easily be cut short. I'm cautiously optimistic Graham Glasgow can hold the fort for a few games, if Ragnow is sidelined during the regular season. Beyond the 2023 season, the Lions need to begin the process of developing a Center who is capable of being an asset as a long term starter.

Though this is encouraging news, the Lions first Training Camp Practice was this past Sunday. How Frank Ragnow will be feeling in the weeks and months ahead, relatively speaking compared to other NFL players, remains to be seen. Ragnow is a huge health question mark.

Hopefully, Frank Ragnow and the Lions will get relatively good news today regarding Ragnow's knee injury.

While the Lions were able to overcome the loss of Ragnow to hold on to win in New Orleans, the loss of Ragnow was felt at times during the game. Colby Sorsdal gave up a Red Zone pressure that was the primary reason the Lions had to settle for a FG. Overall, it felt like the loss of Ragnow was felt more in the running game than in the passing game.

With it being very realistically possible that Frank Ragnow is going to retire as an NFL player in 2025, 2026, or 2027, I'm confident that Brad Holmes is going to have a plan in place to try to replace Ragnow as well as possible.
