Lions held pre-draft visit with Alabama EDGE Will Anderson
.....
This thread relates to the following thread:
Lions have Picks # 6 and # 18 in the 2023 NFL Draft

Will Anderson is likely the first player on the Defensive side of the ball to be drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. He's 6-4", 253 and ran a 4.60 at the Combine.
Assuming for the sake of discussion that there are no more trades in the top 5 spots of the draft, I don't think Anderson is going to last to pick # 6. Arizona (# 3) and Seattle ( # 5) likely will have Anderson at or very close to the top of their respective draft boards. Houston probably will draft a QB if they keep pick # 2 but Anderson is realistic possibility for them in that spot. Even if 4 QBs are selected in the top 5, Anderson is the other player who probably will be drafted.
If Anderson is available with Pick # 6, the Lions should draft him, unless the Lions get a trade offer that would be difficult to pass up, or if there's information about Anderson that isn't public knowledge at this time that would make him a high risk selection at # 6. I'm not anticipating the latter. While the Lions are deep at DE/Edge in 2023, both Okwaras and Charles Harris are UFAs in 2024. Also, Anderson has the type of high end talent that would make the Lions a better team in the 2023 season.
Will Anderson is probably the only player in the draft the Lions should consider trading up for, if the trade compensation price makes sense. If a team ahead of the Lions in the Draft would accept Pick # 6 and Pick # 81 in Round 3 for the Lions to trade up (to select Anderson), I think the Lions should make the trade.
