Lions send LB coach Kelvin Sheppard to Texas Longhorns pro day
.........
DeMarvion Overshown measured 6'3", 229 at the Combine and ran a 4.56 4O. Overshown is a former Safety, who was converted to LB with Texas. His recognition skills as a LB improved, with plenty of more upside in that regard and overall. He needs to continue to improve his functional strength.
Most likely, Overshown will be drafted in the Round 2 to Round 4 range. Because Overshown has plenty of upside and versatility, including in expected passing situations, Overshown would probably be one of the Lions best draft options with Pick # 81 in Round 3, if he lasts to that point of the draft. I don't think Overshown should be ruled out as a viable option in Round 2, because of his upside potential and versatility. The fact that the Lions sent Kelvin Sheppard to Overshown's Pro Day workout indicates that he's probably someone the Lions are seriously considering drafting.

Lions 2023 draft preview: Linebackers are low priority, might be option for later rounds ..........
Trenton Simpson could easily be of great interest to the Lions if he lasts to pick # 49 in Round 2. More likely than not, Simpson won't get to that spot. It wouldn't surprise me if Simpson is taken in latter part of Round 1, beginning around pick # 20.
Jack Campbell probably won't be drafted by the Lions with one of the team's 2nd Round picks, but I think he would be tempting for the Lions if he lasts to pick # 81 in Round 3.
Daiyan Henley is a player I believe the Lions have serious interest in drafting. I think it's possible, not probable, Henley could be drafted by the Lions as high as pick # 55 in Round 2. With pick # 81 in Round 3, Henley would probably be amongst the favorites to be the selection by the Lions.
Owen Pappoe and Jeremy Banks both probably be seriously considered by the Lions with a Day 3 pick. It wouldn't surprise me if one or both are selected in Round 3.

NFL draft 2023 LB preview: Detroit Lions hit it big with 6th-round picks last year
........
This thread relates to the following thread:
Mock Draft ( 2023) - DLF Members
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1760/mock-draft-2023-dlf-members
After putting together my Mock Draft in the last few days, I now believe there's a greater chance Trenton Simpson lasts to Pick # 48 and even Pick # 55, in Round 2, than I previously thought. While it's more likely than not Trenton Simpson will be taken ahead of Daiyan Henley, I believe Henley has a greater chance of being drafted by the Lions, if both are still available. The reason being, Henley had 5 interceptions in College, Simpson didn't have any. Henley is my Mock Draft projection for the Lions with Pick # 55. Henley is only a little over 6'0 1/2" but his arm length is 33" (above average arm length for a LB prospect). Henley had 4 sacks and 3 Forced Fumbles as a Senior with Washington State. Henley's all around abilities to get opposing Offenses off the field is impressive.
Marte Mapu is viewed as a Safety by some. In the NFL, he could be a subpackage Big Nickel Back, who becomes a key Special Teams player. Mapu could go as early as Round 3 but it wouldn't be surprising if he's available when the Lions are scheduled to be on the clock with Pick # 152, in Round 5. Mapu is definitely a player worth considering by the Lions, beginning at that point of the draft. Mapu could emerge as a viable replacement for the now released DJ Moore.
