Unless a game or season is on the line, I think it would be a mistake for the Lions to use Jamison Williams on Special Teams Returns or even in other roles on Special Teams. The risk/reward isn't favorable to use Williams on Special Teams in the vast majority of situations.

Caution is the best way to proceed with Jameson Williams and any player dealing with a leg injury in training camp. As much as Williams needs practice reps, compounding the injury could lead to Williams missing the majority of training camp or worse.
The suspension of Jameson Williams might be a blessing in disguise under the circumstances. There's less of a chance he will try to do too much, too soon, in his rehab.
With the Lions entering the final 6 games of the regular season, Jameson Williams needs to take another forward step. Including, more consistency both as a receiver and as a blocker. I'm encouraged though that Williams has been catching the ball better in recent games.
