Arthur Smith on Dan Campbell: 'He's done a hell of a job up there'
...........
While the season is still in the early stage, Arthur Smith is getting tangible results through this point in time. Even last season, with the Falcons in a rebuilding mode, after clearly plenty of salary cap space, they went 7-10. Time will tell if Dan Campbell and/ or Arthur Blank will be successful with their respective team. It's evident though that both the Lions and Falcons are in a better place now than was the case both Campbell and Smith were hired in the winter of 2021.

Dan Campbell remains the odds-on favorite for NFL Coach of the Year
..........
In addition to Dan Campbell and Demeco Ryans, Colts HC Shane Steichen is making a strong case to be NFL Coach of the Year. The Colts are 7-5, with a 4 game winning streak. At this time, like the Texans, the Colts would be an AFC Wildcard Team. Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel also is doing a very good job this season in his role as HC. LA Rams HC Sean McVay is also making a case to be considered for NFL HC of the Year. The Rams are 6-6, with a 3 game winning streak. With all of the young players they have, in order to get their Salary Cap situation under control, the Rams have definitely exceeded my expectations for them at this point in time.

Dan Campbell plans to play Lions starters against Vikings
............
While I expect the Lions to begin the game with starters ( players not dealing with injuries that limit them in Friday's Practice), it's not a given that at least some of the starters will remain in the game to the end.
Both the LA Rams and the Packers are more than capable of beating the Lions and having long playoff runs. Yet, of these two potential Lions playoff opponents; the Packers concern me even more. The Lions greatest problems on Defense are with more mobile QBs.

Dan Campbell 'Hard Knocks' speech to the Lions has come to fruition
..........
This thread relates to the following thread:
Lions 31, Bucs 23: Playoffs: 2nd Round ( 2023 ).
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/2007/lions-bucs-playoffs-round-2023
Before the season, I thought an NFC North Title and a playoff game win was the very realistic goal for the Lions to achieve. The Lions have already exceeded that, something I thought was probably not going to happen. Tremendous job by Dan Campbell, his staff, Brad Holmes and his staff, the Lions players, and everyone in the Lions organization that contributed to the Lions reaching the NFC Championship Game.
If the NFL Coach of the Year award included the Post-Season for voters to make their decision on who to choose, Dan Campbell would have been the clear favorite to win the award. Coach Campbell could still win the award but it's clearly less likely with the post-season not included in the decision-making process.

Dan Campbell happy to prove Lions owner Sheila Hamp was right to hire him
....
It's good to see Dan Campbell's appreciation for Sheila Hamp setting the stage for Dan Campbell and the Lions overall current regime putting the Lions in position to reach the 2023 season Super Bowl with a win at San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game. Three years ago, the Lions were barely on the same planet as the Super Bowl. Remarkable turnaround by Sheila Hamp, Rod Wood, Chris Spielman, Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, the Lions players, and their support staffs.

Dan Campbell’s fourth-down decision in third quarter opened door for 49ers
..........
This thread relates to the following thread:
49ers 34, Lions 31: NFC Championship Game ( 2023 ).
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/2011/49ers-lions-championship-game-2023
On the other hand, Josh Reynolds should have caught the pass from Jared Goff in the 4th and 2 situation from the 49ers 28 yd line, that would have given the Lions a 1st Down. If the Lions would have gone on to score a TD, that could have been the difference in the outcome of the game. It's far from a given that even if Michael Badgley would have made a 46 yd FG attempt in the 4th and 2 situation, that the Lions would have held on to a 17 point lead. The plays that did occur in the sequence that enabled the 49ers to comeback from a 24-10 deficit are the type of plays that enable opponents to overcome 17 point halftime leads, and leads of 14 points in the middle of the 3rd QTR.
