I definitely didn't see this coming before the 2022 season and even during the season with the Lions struggles in the Secondary and overall, on Defense. Very disappointing news. Before the season, I envisioned Aubrey Pleasant as the most likely replacement for Aaron Glenn as Defensive Coordinator, if Glenn became an NFL HC of another team in 2023.

Considering the progress that Jeff Okudah made with Aubrey Pleasant as the Lions DB Coach, at the very least, it's concerning that Okudah no longer will be working with the position coach that helped him greatly. Okudah went from having a career threatening torn Achilles Tendon injury in the opening game of the 2021 season, to a CB who has looked like a former 1st Round pick most of this season.

All of the changes in the Lions Secondary, in large part because of injuries, a pass rush that's been amongst the worst in the NFL this season, and a run Defense that's been highly problematic far too often, all are factors in the Lions Pass Defense being historically bad. Aubrey Pleasant lost his job as a result, which on the surface is a decision that's at best highly questionable.
