While Kalil Pimpleton probably has more upside potential, at least as a Returner, than Maurice Alexander, I'm comfortable with the outcome that took place with the Lions at WR (through this afternoon). Tom Kennedy and Maurice Alexander would be able to help the Lions more at WR this season, if called upon. Alexander could potential be an asset as a WR and as a Returner. Kennedy's insight in meetings also can be helpful as the Lions prepare for games.

Ex-Lions CB Mark Gilbert signs with Steelers practice squad

With outside CB Saivion Smith very likely a higher priority for the Lions to sign to the Practice Squad, which he did, Mark Gilbert almost certainly didn't get a P.S. offer from the Lions. Whether he would have signed a P.S. contract with the Lions, with the Steelers making him a P.S. contract, is uncertain. Even way, Gilbert made a good decision going back to the Steelers. HC Mike Tomlin and DC Teryl Austin both have backgrounds coaching DBs.

David Blough to sign with the Vikings practice squad

Being that the Lions didn't sign Tim Boyle to the P.S. (at least for the time being) after David Blough decided to sign a P.S. contract with the Vikings, it's very realistically possible the Lions didn't offer Blough a P.S. contract after he cleared waivers.

My guess is Lions QB Mark Brunell handled the Lions Scout team throwing in practice yesterday.

Most likely, the Lions will sign another QB to the Practice Squad sometime before Wednesday's Practice next week.

It's near certain that the Vikings brass will be asking David Blough questions about the Lions, with the two teams set to meet 21 days from today in Minneapolis.
