Jermar Jefferson signs with the Lions practice squad
.........
This was the most likely outcome once the Lions released Jermar Jefferson.
For Jefferson to get back on the Lions 53 man roster and remain there for a long time to come, at the very least he needs to improve as a receiver and in pass protecting. To Jefferson's credit, he did improve in blocking on Kickoff Returns.

Lions release rookie TE Derrick Deese from the practice squad

My guess is the Lions will re-sign Derrick Deese Jr. to the Practice Squad at some point this season.
I hope the Lions add another QB to the Practice Squad, to help give the Lions more flexibility and insurance at QB, including in practice.

Lions bring back OL Darrin Paulo to the practice squad

Note: I wrote the thoughts below before the news was reported that Darrin Paulo was released from the Lions Practice Squad.
Darrin Paulo exclusively played Guard for the Lions in the 2022 Pre-Season games. That's where Paulo is needed the most, with the Lions injury situation at Guard concerning going into the start of the regular season. For now, Paulo is another practice player at Guard. It's very realistically possible that Paulo will be a Practice Squad call-up for the opener vs. the Eagles.

Lions shuffle the practice squad OL, sign Ross Pierschbacher

With Frank Ragnow not practicing today, after being limited in practice yesterday by a groin injury, the versatility factor up front becomes that much more important.
The main concerns regarding the Lions signing Ross Pierschbacher to the Practice Squad, if called upon to play against the Eagles this coming Sunday, are he hasn't played in the Lions Offensive System, and will have very little practice time with Jared Goff, the Lions Offensive Lineman, and overall Offensive Unit.

Sam Ficken has a 72.9% of successful FGs in his NFL career, including going 4 for 9 (44.4%) from 50 yards or longer. His longest FG was 54 yards, in the 2020 season with the Jets. Ficken has been successful on 87.5% of PATs. Based on history, Ficken isn't a choice who provides confidence.
