Detroit Lions 2022 UDFA tracker
.........
Leading up to Lions Training Camp, I plan on starting threads for at least some of the Lions 2022 UDRFAs. This thread can also be used as a general thread regarding Lions 2021 UDRFAs.
Obinna Eze is the Lions only 2022 UDRFA listed in the above article /link that I thought was likely going to be drafted AND looks like a serious contender to win a 53 man opening day roster spot with the Lions. With Offensive Tackle depth something the Lions didn't address with a non-Street external FA signing or a draft selection, Eze made a good decision to sign with the Lions. At the very least, Eze will likely have a Practice Squad opportunity with the Lions, if he's released and clears waivers.

Detroit Lions sign 12 undrafted free agents: Get to know the class of 2022
.......
Jermaine Waller might have gone as high as Round 3 if he didn't run a very slow 40 time at the Combine. Unless Waller demonstrates that he can play much faster than his 40 time reflects and can overcome bulk limitations (he weighted 180 pounds at the Combine), his chances of being on an NFL 53 roster other than to fill in for an injured player, are slim.

Lions UDFA watch: Assessing the undrafted rookies entering the 1st preseason game
..........
Jermaine Waller retired from the NFL well before training camp. Corey Sutton and Zein Obeid retired during Training Camp.
Of the Lions remaining 2022 UDRFAs, at this time, Demetrius Taylor and Kalil Pimpleton appear to be the only Lions 2022 UDRFAs that have a realistic chance of being claimed off waivers in the coming weeks. Obinna Eze and to a lesser extent, Cedric Boswell, could enter that conversation if they show noticeable upside potential in the pre-season.
