NFL teams need to learn from Lions’ success with Penei Sewell .....
This new thread is a continuation of the following thread:
Round 1: T Penei Sewell ( Oregon ) : Pick # 7 ( 2021 )
I expressed the following in the 'Franchise Tag and Transition Tag info: 2022' thread:
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1347/franchise-tag-transition-info-2022
The Jaguars still have a major need at RT. They have the option of drafting a Tackle with pick # 1 and moving Cam Robinson to RT. They also could draft a Tackle with pick # 1, with the plan of playing him at RT as a rookie. An X factor is how the new Jaguars Coaching Staff views T Walker Little, who the Jaguars drafted with pick # 45 in the middle of Round, in 2021?
That should read, middle of Round 2, in 2021?
Back in 2011, the Cowboys selected T Tyron Smith with pick # 9 in the draft. Smith was only 20 at the time, the same age Penei Sewell was when the Lions selected him with pick # 7 in the 2021 Draft. The Cowboys sticked to their plan of starting Smith at RT as a rookie. Then moved him to LT his 2nd season. Smith has been one of the best LTs, if not the best, in the last 10 seasons. Sewell might eventually be moved to LT. But barring something unexpected, the plan is to keep him at RT for at least the 2022 season.
