Awful red zone defense equates to the Lions' league-worst scoring defense
........
This thread relates to the following thread:
Vikings 28, Lions 24: Game # 3 ( 2022)
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1551/vikings-28-lions-game-2022t
The Lions Defense certainly needs to get much better in the Red Zone and there's plenty of room & then-some for overall improvement.
Having said this, the Lions Defense stopped the Vikings on 3 out of 4 drives (including the Dalvin Cook fumble that the DeShon Eliott recovered.) after the Lions took a 24-14 lead. On the previous drive, Vikings K Greg Joseph missed a 56 yard FG. The Lions Defense gave the Lions Offense the opportunities to put the game away for all intents and purposes. But the Lions Offense failed to do so. That opened the door for the Vikings eventual game winning TD pass. It shouldn't have come to that.

Lions notes: Next on Detroit defense's to-do list: Limit big plays in passing game
.........
While the Panthers and Bears (the Lions next 2 opponents) are more run oriented than pass oriented, both teams have QBs with strong arms and at least one WR with big play ability, vertically. The Lions might not have any margin of error in the standings, in order to reach the playoffs. Making major improvements against the pass beginning this Saturday in Charlotte, especially in limiting chunk type plays, seems necessary.
