Ravens will not use franchise tag on C.J. Mosley
………………………………………………………………….
Even with the high Franchise Tag number, I'm surprised C.J. Mosley won't be getting the Franchise Tag put on him. The Transition Tag seems like a possible option.
C.J. Mosley probably will get a contract worth more than the Lions are willing to pay.

Rams release Mark Barron
………………………….
Mark Barron turns 30 in October. I can envision the Lions having significant interest in Barron because of his versality to be used as a small LB or big SS. Plus, he played his college ball with Alabama, something the Lions brass values.

Cardinals release Josh Bynes
……………………………………
I would be surprised if the Lions had serious interest in bringing Josh Bynes. That much more with different coaches and scheme in place from the time he was with the Lions.

Browns release Jamie Collins
……………………………………………………..
Unless the Lions brass thinks that Jamie Collins can be a good fit at Weakside LB or even more 3-4 base snaps take place, I don't think there's going to be a reunion with him and Matt Patricia. The investment the Lions have in Devon Kennard makes it cost ineffective to sign Collins to be primarily used at Strongside LB when the Lions are in a 4-3 Defense.

Detroit Lions free agency preview: Don't expect much in LB market
…………...…………….
The question that jumps out is will the Lions look to replace Christian Jones as a starter and / or in some Nickel Packages? Jones was very consistent for the most part. However, he didn't make many splash plays.
C.J. Mosley would be a great addition if the cost isn't prohibitive.
Jordan Hicks is very risky because of his injury history. When Hicks has been relatively healthy, he's been an asset for tne Eagles. Good all around LB.
Anthony Barr makes plenty of splash plays. But his lack of consistency is why it looks like he's hitting tbe open market. Barr is intriguing. If the Lions don't sign him, I hope he ends up out of the division.
Brandon Marshall at the right price is worth serious consideration.
Kwon Alexander doesn't seem like a good scheme fit because of his lack of size.
Shaquil Barrett.is someone who impressed me in the Broncos Super Bowl winning 2015 season. He didn't jump out as much since in the limited amount of Broncos games I saw since then. He seems like someone who can provide at least decent depth off the edge. Maybe noticeably more than that.

Chiefs announce Justin Houston’s release
………………….
It wouldn't surprise me if the Lions have already tried to line up a FA visit by Justin Houston. He probably won't remain on the open market beyond this week.

Kwon Alexander will sign with the 49ers
………………………………………
If this contract and the Trent Brown one are an indication, the Lions might better off sitting out the 1st wave of the FA Period in terms of high in demand / high priced FAs.

Anthony Barr reportedly will sign with the Jets
………………………
Once the Lions agreed to contract terms with DE Erik Flowers, it was a longshot the Lions would land Anthony Barr. Hence ,I'm glad he's going to the AFC. Even better to a Jets team the Lions aren't scheduled again to play until the 2022 season. Barr provides unique skills because of his size and athletic ability.
