NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions hunting for secondary help a year after taking Jeff Okudah
....
The Lions probably won't draft a CB with pick # 7 but there's more than a snowball's chance of the Lions drafting a CB in that spot. The current team brass might want a long term upgrade over Amari Oruwariye. If the Lions end up with Patrick Surtain II or Jaycee Horn in the draft, it likely would be as a result if a trade down. CB would likely be a huge long term strength for the Lions as a result.
A number of CBs probably are in mix for the Lions with pick # 41 in Round 2. Even in a trade down from pick # 41 or if the Lions get a lower 2nd Round pick by trading down from # 7, there should be better CB options than options at most other positions.
I'm not anticipating Trevon Moehrig being available with pick # 41. Richie Grant is the Safety who I believe has the best chance of being pick # 41. Andre Cisco could be in the mix at # 41. But the risk / reward at # 41 ( because of the ACL injury ) doesn't appear to be favorable enough. Trading down to draft Cisco might turn out to be one of the Lions better options with that draft resource. Trading down from # 41 for Jevon Holland as a realistic option, seems worth exploring.
Jamar Johnson might be worth taking with the Lions second 3rd Round Pick ( # 101 ), if still available. But probably not as a preferred option.

2021 NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions still need immediate help in secondary
..........
From a value standpoint, Patrick Surtain II might be the Lions best option with pick # 7. The more I have been giving the Lions options at # 7 thought, the more I believe Surtain should be a viable option.
I don't anticipate Greg Newsome to be available at # 41. He's a player who would be well worth considering under most scenarios, if the Lions trade down to the appropriate pick # 18 or lower range.
Asanta Samuel Jr. probably will be gone by pick # 41. He would be a good value pick if he lasts to that spot. Because Samuel is only 5'-10", slot CB probably will become the best position to use him in the NFL.
Eric Stokes would probably be well worth considering at # 41. I have him going in my Mock Draft to the LA Chargers with pick # 47. It's a close call whether he will be available at # 41.
Elijah Molden should provide a combination on Defense of Safety and Slot CB versatility. He had very good intangibles. I think pick # 41 would be too early to take him but he would be appealing in a trade down to somewhere in the second half of Round 2.
